Social Media is a great source to connect with many different people at once. Especially when trying to advocate and educate people on certain problems that may not be well known.

The goal of the Social Media Campaign was to research and advocate problems an animal species of our choice was facing. For me this was on crows and birds in urban societies. Using Twitter, through I posted 3 times each day for a week, showcasing problems, solutions, and organizations that were tackling these problems.

This is one of my best tweets talking about the relatively unknown problem of cats killing many birds. The problem is so bad, that they are in fact the greatest contributor to human-related bird deaths by a mile. It is estimated that cats kill around 2 billion birds each year. I chose this because of the relative ease the solution is. The best thing to do is not let your cats outside unsupervised.

Here is another favorite tweet about the nearly extinct Hawaiian Crow species. These crows are known to be similar to the famous New Caledonian Crows in terms of intelligence. Despite this, there is not much talk about how urbanization and climate change killed their habitats and are now only alive in captivity. This is one of my favorites because of the fact that if nothing is done, many other bird species could end up in the same position.

Aside from finding some problems and telling people about them I also had to look at some organizations who also work to support birds. Two of the main organizations I found was The Audubon Society @audubonsociety, and The American Bird Conservancy @ABCbirds.

Two of the best organizations I found that talked about birds and their problems are The Audubon Society, and The American Bird Conservancy. Both these organizations have great websites and Twitter accounts that talk about real issues and problems birds face. Both of these retweets are from each of these organizations' respective Twitter accounts, where they spread information about threats and how you may be able to help.

These organizations really helped me understand a lot of the problems, like climate change and urbanization, as well as got me to learn new ones that I didn't realize birds face.

These two issues are some that I found which I feel account for some of the greatest threats towards birds. The first is on The Trump Administration's reckless rollback on the Migratory Bird Act. Something which removed some of the much needed protections on many endangered species.

The second image is on how urban cities are affecting many birds, through window collisions. While it wouldn't seem like a very dangerous problem, it accounts for the second most human-related deaths among birds, following closely behind domestic cats. There is not enough information going around informing people of this problem, despite the simple solutions of adding a decal over windows.

Ultimately, the best way to help these birds is to become informed about the problems they face and to life a bird friendly life. This can be through petitioning, covering windows, adding birdhouses or bird baths, or even as simple as putting fur out to help them build nests.
